Based in Lyon, EuroNews is Europe’s news channel, covering world news from a European perspective in seven languages. EuroNews broadcasts simultaneously in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish. Launched on 1st January 1993, as the first multilingual pan-European news channel, EuroNews has rapidly established itself as Europe’s leading television news channel.

This week, I am covering economic affairs for the English language service, producing a mixture of stories, news items and features for their post-production television service and their website. Click here for more details and some examples of my work.

For almost eight years, I worked as a correspondent and senior correspondent at Reuters, the international news agency. I was trained by their experienced journalists in London before embarking on postings in Vienna, Zurich and Berlin. I reported from cities all over Europe and the U.S. and appeared on Reuters video and television services. My areas I covered included:

Switzerland: Banking, finance, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, luxury goods, politics, economics and monetary policy.
Germany: Politics, general news, international relations, reform and healthcare.
Austria: Politics, economics, energy, oil & gas, telecoms, banking and finance.

Reuters has an exceptional reputation for journalism and deservedly so. Its core values are accuracy, speed and freedom from bias — qualities which are also central to armitage media.

Here is a link to some of the more recent stories I wrote for Reuters from Zurich.

Here you can find an example of work I did for Inside Switzerland Magazine.

I enjoyed working with Sabine Schweizer and Jennifer Davies, the Editors-in-Chief of Inside Switzerland Magazine. I had met Jennifer previously through a contact and so I was very happy to be able to work with her. Jennifer and Sabine’s company is located out in the Technopark in Zurich and their magazine is thriving, even in its first year.

They accepted a proposal for a column called ‘Slice of Life’ that was developed by myself and Thea Katauskas, an Australian-born artist and illustrator. Jennifer and Sabine came up with the title which I think is great. I have always enjoyed Thea’s work and so it was great to be able to collaborate on this project about Switzerland. The result is an amusing and sharply satirical look at Switzerland, its people and their characters.

Subscriptions to the magazine are available here

It’s great to write for a publication that is the leading voice in its industry. Automotive News and its European sister publication Automotive News Europe are exceptionally well-regarded in the car manufacturing and supplier industry and widely-read by executives and managers. Combining a life-long passion for all things automotive with my interest in the German-speaking world, I have had the pleasure of working with this publication for around six months.
